Byculla – The Latest Real Estate Destination in South Mumbai

The South Mumbai’s suburb, Byculla has rich cultural significance. It was a lavish European enclave in the 1800s and habitat of the rich and famous, including Sir David Sassoon, the Baghdad’s treasurer, who was also the Jewish community leader in Mumbai. The community built a worldwide trade empire and developed various schools and hospitals. Currently, there are 15 schools and 5 hospitals in Byculla. The Turf Club of Bombay was also located here. Later on, the club was relocated to Mahalaxmi. It has great physical infrastructure and an important railway station from the time when the first ever railway route in India, from Thane to Mumbai was laid.

In 1857, the historic wooden structure of the station was later renovated and rebuilt partially. It is the oldest railway station in India. It is strategically connected to Dadar, CST and Mumbai Central stations. It is also located in the vicinity of Mumbai’s longest flyovers, JJ Flyover and the Eastern Freeway. The leading ferry service port, Ferry Wharf is also located near Byculla and the airport is located 17km away. Several corporate hubs like Bandra Kurla Complex, Nariman Point and Lower Parel are accessible easily from Byculla. Hence, it is the ideal destination for residents.

There is a bit of growth with the physical and social infrastructure development and modern real estate development. Apart from nearest suburbs like Chinchpokli, Lower Parel and Mahalaxmi, Byculla has been dominated by the mills. Byculla has not seen a lot of developments in the category of premium residences. Now the area started seeing development after a lot of mills opened the doors of opportunities to the new residential and commercial structures. Lower Parel witnessed significant growth in the commercial and residential property developments which led the development of new business district in Lower Parel. Several new entertainment hubs and shopping malls have also come up. The significant growth of this suburb has led positive impact on Byculla over the past couple of years. Home buyers love to enjoy lavish living in South Mumbai with the glory of Bombay. Rich culture is also the main reason behind huge property prices.
